⊰ Banana for scale ⊱

Banana, the unofficial unit of measurement of the internet.

To show how big or small an object is, placing a banana next to it is an excellent way to illustrate its relative size.

The bananas are not for sale.
I give them as gifts to friends who were excited about them and whom I know will truly appreciate them.
(If you really, really loved them, talk to me).

It’s the same banana, marked on one side with about 18 cm, and on the other with about 7 in.

The scale banana was apparently first used in 2005 to sell the TV shown in the photo below. More about its history can be found at this link.

The way I see it, the bananas I made will serve as a kind of Rosetta Stone for future generations, helping them decipher the meaning of centimeters and inches after society collapses and only the bananas remain.

A warm recommendation to listen to the episode about the banana on Doron Fishler’s podcast Hamuvan-MeElaiv (Hebrew for The Obvious/Taken for granted/Self explanatory).
