Alternate title: I made two

On this page, you’ll find things I originally made for myself, and “along the way,” I made another one. Meaning, you (or whoever you gift it to) could have one of these unique pieces at home too.

  • I made this for myself, an idea popped into my head and wouldn’t leave me alone until I worked on it, made it, and only then did it let me rest.
The urge to make it came and went.
Which means the chances of me making another one like it ,are close to zero, especially with so many other ideas patiently waiting their turn.

  • It’s happened to me many times. I make something, and after I finish, someone sees it, likes it, and asks for one too.
At that stage, making another one means starting completely from scratch, and that’s a lot of work (maybe minus the planning and lessons learned).

So I decided to get ahead of that “problem.” For certain items that I thought others might want as well, I made two from the start. Partly because it genuinely makes me happy to know that something I created will be displayed in another home too.

When it comes to creating an item, the resources needed to make one or two aren’t double. When I make more than one, a sort of “mini production line”, many steps overlap: gathering materials, cutting, painting, and other parts of the process can all be done together.

  • I applied for a stand at Icon, half a table in the creators’ area.
It wasn’t approved because I don’t have an online presence (Instagram and such). They’re right, and I can understand that.
Besides, a health issue would have made operating a stand difficult for me, so I didn’t appeal.

  • No.

If you think it looks cheap or easy to make, and that you could order or make one like it yourself , then by all means, go ahead and do it.
This isn’t a basic life necessity like bread, it’s a joyful indulgence (that’s why I made it for myself).
If it feels too expensive, you can go on with your life without it.

The materials, and getting hold of them, are expensive, and making these items takes more work than it might seem at first glance, not to mention the time it takes to plan and design them.

As for “discounts”, <sigh> that word doesn’t sit well with me. I know it’s common to start with a high price and then, like in a market, bargain and lower it, so the buyer feels they’ve gained something and aren’t being taken advantage of.
But to me, when someone asks for a discount, it feels like they’re saying what I made isn’t worth what I’m asking, and I find that insulting.
