I made Ellie’s hoodie for my daughter, from the game The Last of Us.
There’s always a part of me that, right before I ruin and cut up a completely new piece of clothing, asks me, “Are you sure?”
And I reply with confidence: “No. Shhhhh.”
The pieces were dyed separately in strawberry and chocolate ice-cream colors, while the middle part remained in its original color.
After dyeing, the pieces were sewn back together in a moving reunion.
There was a crisis when the hoodie somehow ended up in the wash and dyed itself and other clothes.
But somehow, that also fit the wear and tear and the game’s effect.

In the days following October 7th, we all moved to my in-laws’ house, which has a safe room. It fit the overall post-apocalyptic atmosphere, and also the fact that I suddenly had time to work on it.
